Fully supported by their TDL Regional Sales Manager, Kim Platfoot and backed up by a reliable aftermarket team, the Scrapco fleet of Atlas machines have stood the test of time.
The scrap metal side of the business currently run a number of scrap specified Atlas 350MH material handlers, one of the leading models on the market. The 36 ton 245 hp handlers are renowned industry wide for their performance and German engineering excellence. The Atlas 350MH machines offer extra reach at 17m when compared to competitor models in the same class. The machines are paired with the industry leading scrap grabs for enhanced productivity.
The cab rises to a height of 5.5 metres from ground level, giving the operator clear and unobstructed views. The automatic engaged reversing fan, regularly cleans out the radiator cores, maximising the machines performance and limiting dust and debris build up. The machine is designed to be easily accessible for both the operator and for servicing, large gullwing canopies open up on either side of the chassis to allow unrestricted access to the cooling pack on one side and the hydraulic system on the other.
Along side these Atlas 350MH handlers stand their predecessors the Terex Atlas 1804’s still going strong and withstanding the gruelling conditions of busy scrap yard life.
Whilst the scrap handlers assist with the handling and processing of 1000 tons of metal and end of life vehicles every week, the waste recycling side of the business also remains a hive of activity.
Recycling 500 tons of both commercial and domestic waste material every week, the company invested in the Atlas 200MH. The specialist waste spec machine pre-sorts waste material and loads the hopper on the picking station. The ability to pre-sort and load the waste allows the company to be more efficient, reduces the labour needed on the floor and creates a much safer working environment.
With over 100 years of manufacturing experience, the German engineered Atlas machines are designed to graft. The 20 ton Atlas 200MH material handling machine offers a max range of 10.1 metres, engine power output of 143 hp and an extended cab raise height of 2.3m. It’s selector grab along with high rise cab allows the operator to sort and load waste both efficiently and safely.
The side and rear mounted cameras on all Atlas handlers offer further enhanced visibility for the operator, which serves as a great bonus in a busy yard like Scrapco’s. An abundance of features combined with a market leading 3 year warranty, it’s easy to see why Atlas machines are a hit nationwide.
More recently, the Scrapco team have taken delivery of a Weycor AR660 wheel loader, also from TDL Equipment. Weycor, an Atlas brand, have been developing wheeled loaders for more than half a century. The AR660 performance and handling certainly impresses in the Scrapco yard and the visibility from the cab make operating the Weycor a breeze for the operators.
Weycor wheel loaders range from 2.5 to 16 ton, with the AR660 one of the largest in the range. The German built loader offers an engine output of 215 HP and a bucket capacity of up to 4m³, like all Weycor loaders, the AR660 can be moved in 3 ways, operating speed range, road speed range and optional high speed range. The first and second hydraulic gears as well as forward/ reverse travel can be engaged under load. All main functions are at the operators finger tips, switching between the forward / backward travel, speed ranges and off-position is done via joystick. Robust, low maintenance components, exceptional high tilt stability, high break out forces and excellent lifting heights make a Weycor loader an ideal companion on site.
